Performer & multidisciplinary artist, Mélodie Duchesne works both for the Institutions and unusual spaces. Her approach explores the diversity of intervention venues (museum, gallery, theater or extemporaneous spaces, natural environments, urban or industrial area...) She is invested in contextual performances.
Sensitive to Art as Intrusion, with the uncertainty that it underlies, she embezzles some aesthetics codes of the “Society of the Spectacle”. The use of diversion gives rise to some landslides.
Attentive to relational issues, the tension of the performative gesture is proportional to the feedback, which provides its own chain of events. Physically engaged, she sometimes risks herself towards an act of surpassing… Questioning at the instant, which conditions are necessary to attract the Other’s attention?
‘‘The contextual practices by their inherent undetermined articulations, open an experimental playground.
A challenge for the performer, as ‘‘modest catalyst’’, is to readjust its expression’s tools to every new situation’’.
Interested by processes and transversal languages, her artistic research is negotiating with the boundaries of expression fields. It borrows from the visual arts, dance, experimental theater, vocal improvisation, traditional music and feeds itself through numerous collaborations. In a desire to let herself porous to a favorite discipline, the body investment becomes the kinesthetic vector to action.
Topics question the bases of the “semiology in the human ethology” : the society of control, through the employment of the media or repression ; the economy and consumerism ; the education ; the artists status ; the notion of “déterritorialisation” ; the transhumanism ; the pagan rituals and the original fantaisies…
The notion of the foreign body crosses her practice and reflections. An oscillating thread between fiction and reality that she articulates in her performances and videos.
Working on improvisations as interrelated to the “space-time context”, according to the Surrealists and Situationists influences, she accentuates and digs into the contradictions of everyday life, its routine, rituals, vices and taboos.

Performeuse et artiste pluridisciplinaire dans des lieux institutionnels ou insolites, sa démarche prospecte à la diversité des lieux de représentation et d’intervention (musée, galerie, théâtre ou espaces impromptus, environnements naturels, urbains, industriels...). Du choix des cadres investis se développe une proposition à chaque fois singulière, qui s'ajuste ou se laisse surprendre, attentive aux enjeux relationnels.
Investie dans la performance contextuelle, elle est sensible à l'Art comme Intrusion, avec l'indétermination que cela sous-tend. L’utilisation du détournement donne lieu parfois à quelques glissements de terrains. Engagée physiquement, elle se risque parfois vers un acte de dépassement.
Inscrite dans l’Art Performance principalement, sa recherche artistique négocie avec les frontières des champs d’expressions. Elle emprunte dans le domaine des arts plastiques & visuels, de la danse, du théâtre expérimental, de l’improvisation vocale, de la musique traditionnelle et se nourrit à travers de nombreuses collaborations. D'une volonté de se laisser poreuse à l'emploi d'une discipline de prédilection, elle porte un accent fort sur l'investissement corporel. Le corps devient le vecteur coenesthésique à l'action.
Les sujets qu'elle aborde – saborde – s'interrogent sur les Soubassements du "[Lent-Gage]" dans l'éthologie humaine. Les thèmes questionnent la Société de Contrôle, à travers l’emploi des Médias ou une certaine Répression ; l’Économie et la Société de Consommation ; l’Éducation ; le Statut de l’Artiste ; les Rituels païens ; la notion de Déterritorialisation & les Fantasmes Originels...
Travaillant sous mode d’improvisation à partir du « contexte espace-temps », selon les influences surréalistes et situationnistes, elle creuse dans les contradictions de la vie quotidienne, sa routine, ses rituels, ses vices et tabous. La notion du Corps étranger traverse sa pratique et ses réflexions. Un fil conducteur qui oscille entre fiction et réel et se décline dans ses performances, ses vidéos.
